The experts behind Device Hero
Jaime Becerra
My name is Jaime, and I have always been passionate about both photography and technology. While photography was my very first creative pursuit, I developed a strong interest in computers and electronics early in my career. After earning my degree in Business Administration in 1994, I began exploring the world of computers and software, which quickly became a central part of my professional journey.
I spent six years working at an electronics recycling company in Austin, where I gained valuable insight into the potential of giving devices a second life.
This experience sparked my interest in repair and refurbishment, leading me to work in a phone repair shop and later with a company specializing in the resale of refurbished electronics through major platforms such as Amazon, Walmart, and other large retailers.
Over the years, I realized that the logical next step was to establish my own business—one where I could combine my technical expertise, entrepreneurial background, and commitment to customer service. Today, through my own store, I provide repair, resale, and recycling services for electronic devices, helping customers extend the life of their technology while contributing to a more sustainable community.
Ryan Oliveros
My professional journey started right out of high school, where I was immediately drawn to the fast-paced world of telecommunications. I began as a troubleshooter for Time Warner Cable, which gave me a strong foundation in diagnosing and solving technical problems. From there, I moved on to working for various cell phone carriers, which put me on the front lines of the mobile revolution.
It was during my time in customer service at T-Mobile, right around the launch of the very first iPhone in 2006, that I started to see a shift. As smartphones became more common and integral to our daily lives, I received an overwhelming number of calls from customers whose devices were broken. Back then, it was a major problem because phone repair shops were extremely rare. This gave me the idea to pivot my career and join the budding repair industry.
I found a job as a software specialist at a local repair shop. I was a quick study and, within a few months, I had gained the reputation as the top technician there. I spent years working for other shops and major repair facilities, which gave me a comprehensive view of the industry—its strengths, its weaknesses, and its potential.
After almost 20 years in the business, my passion for electronics and helping people has only grown. I still love troubleshooting and helping people understand their devices, and I knew I had to take the next step. My good friend and I recognized that the growing community of Manor, Texas, didn't have a reliable, local option for electronic repairs. We decided to open a shop to fill that void and provide a much-needed service to our community. We are excited to serve Manor and the surrounding areas for years to come.
